Adhesives and Sealants

The key properties silicones are used in formulating adhesives and sealants are:

  • Thermal stability from -50°C to over 200°C without degrading
  • UV and Weather resistance
  • Low Glass Transition Temperature
  • Low Surface Energy (excellent wetting properties)
  • Water Repellency – Water Resistance (high hydrophobicity allows protection from corrosion and moisture damage)
  • High Gas Permeability (allows moisture vapor to cure the adhesive)
  • Chemical Resistance (against solvents, environmental pollutants, mild acids and bases
